At Heart & Soul Standard Poodles of Minnesota, we breed solid and parti standard poodles for their health, beauty, and intelligence.

Our Program

Welcome to Heart & Soul Standard Poodles of Minnesota! I raise our puppies in my home with many, many hours of hands on care. For their first 3-4 weeks they cuddle in a whelping box with their mom and littermates. I personally sleep in the same room with mom and pups for the first 2 weeks and handle and weigh them daily to make sure they are thriving. To ensure they are socialized and trained early and become adaptable, confident, and intelligent adults, I raise our puppies based on the Puppy Culture Program. Beginning on day 3 and continuing through day 16, I conduct ENS (early neurological stimulation) exercises on each of our puppies. After this and until they go home with you, I introduce the pups to a variety of new experiences and information. They will encounter and learn about toys, textures, other humans (both big and small), other adult dogs, cats, loud noises, kennels, using the bathroom outside, car rides, playing outside in the snow, wind, or rain, and navigating a kiddie pool. I begin grooming them at around 5 weeks of age by clipping their feet, face, and fanny, trimming their nails, brushing and combing, ear care, bathing, and blow dries. The puppies have a lot to learn about life in the 8 short weeks they are with us, and we strive to teach them as much as we can.

VETERINARY CARE
On day 2 or 3 our pups go to the vet for their first check-up, where the vet conducts their first physical, docks their tails, and removes their dew claws. Our vet also supplies us with the medication to worm both mom and her pups. They receive this medication at 2, 4, 6, and 8 weeks of age. Between 7 and 8 weeks of age the pups venture to the vet for their second physical and receive their first set of vaccines.

FOREVER HOMES
I am picky about who takes my babies home--they are, simply put, my heart and soul. I raise them alongside their moms from pregnancy and birth through their first 2-3 months, an extremely important and sensitive time in their development. I willingly and enthusiastically put blood, sweat, and tears into the countless hours I spend with them. I get to know their spirit and personalities, and I love them all. I do not under any circumstances send our pups to their forever homes before they are 8 weeks old. In their first two months, they need me, their mom, and litter mates to thrive and develop. I require a spay/neuter contract with each and every pup, unless I’ve specifically given you written permission to breed. This means that you are required to have the pup spayed/neutered at the appropriate age with no breeding. My pups sell for $995 - $1600. I require a $200 deposit to get on the waitlist for each litter. The deposit can be transferred to other litters as necessary.

THERAPY AND SERVICE
I am proud to say that half of my pups have become therapy and service animals. They are calm, loving, smart, and in-tune with their owners. I have also donated seven of my pups to Can Do Canines, a non-profit organization in New Hope, Minnesota, that trains dogs for a life of service. One of our puppies trained in 4-H, one is now a seeing eye dog, and one is a champion bird hunting dog.

COLORS
I breed black, blue, brown, silver beige, and parti standard poodles.

CERTIFICATIONS
Good Dog's mission is to make it easy to connect with responsible, good breeders who have you and your future pup's best interests at heart. That's why I became a member of the Good Dog community. After a comprehensive screening, including an online questionnaire, phone interview, vetting by their screening team, and review by a committee, Good Dog gave Heart & Soul Standard Poodles a "Great" rating for our health testing practices. This means we exceed their requirements, something we're very proud of. We've also received their 'Responsible Breeding Program' designation, meaning we put our dogs' mental health and environment first and are committed to buyer education and clear policies.
